Troubleshooting Integrated Factory Brake Controller Not Working On a 2018 Ram 5500

Question:

Have it hooked up to 45 ft goose neck trlr. Have issue with suddenly no brakes on trlr. I have lights , Brake lights , the wet cell battery test good when I push the test button , but still get message from computer check wiring to trailer and still no trlr brakes. Not sure what to do , just went out suddenly , message from on board computer no trlr brakes wiring looks good at trailer axles , is there a fuse ? Or can you help me with what I’m missing to get the brakes working again

The fuse for the trailer brake module is located in the engine compartment fuse box that is located near the battery on your 2018 Ram 5500. The 30 amp pink fuse is located in position F11.

In my experience if all the wiring and fuses are good you will need to take it to your nearest Ram Service Center as the computer may need to be flashed or updated to get the controller working properly again.

The best option may be to switch to a aftermarket brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This will likely also require the computer to be flashed on your Ram to eliminate the factory controller.
