Quieter Weight Distribution Hitch With Sway Control For a Shasta 25RS Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Hemi. My camping trailer is a Shasta 25rs. GVWR-6750, hitch weight of 690. I need a weight distribution hitch. I was looking at the Reese Steadi-Flex RP 66559 or 66560. Would they be a good choice? I would like backing ability and reasonably quiet. Any help you could give me would be appreciated

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System 10,000LB # RP66559 and 12,000LB # RP66560 are both good hitches. These both fit within your tongue weight and overall camper weight. You can backup with these hitches installed as well, so you can select whichever you wish but remember if you decide to upgrade your camper you may prefer the 12,000LB option. They do provide a slightly quieter ride as they do use the friction material as opposed to direct steel on steel friction.
You will need a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40030 to install onto the hitch.
The Replacement Friction Pad Kit # RP58527 should be carried with you incase you run into issues while traveling. These are designed to wear over time and should be inspected every time you prepare to use the hitch.
