How to Determine if the Connector on a 1998 Ford Explorer is the Right One for Tow Ready Wiring
Question:
I was able to locate the connection point....at least I believe it is the connection point... It was NOT under the vehicle and I was hating the Idea of having to wire all the way up to the battery. But then I removed both tail light housings and, alas, I found the connector on the drivers side the last place I looked of course - . Anyway, my question is, based on some of the answers I have read on your site....can I be reasonably certain that this is it? I have read that often there were two....one on each side and that only one was live? This makes little sense to me from Fords standpoint but.... Again, anyway....what do you think? Being that it is the only connector equipped with the truck and being that it is doing absolutely nothing at present.....is this likely it? Thanks in advance for your time.

It really looks like you found the correct connector to use to install the Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 118241, to be certain you could use a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 and test the terminals for voltage when the tail light circuits are applied. This will tell you if the circuits are actually live on the connector you have found.
