3-Bike Rack Recommendation For 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Does this need an adapter to fit a 2 inch receiver or is there another rack that fits 3 bikes and doesn't sway as much? thanks

While the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR will fit a 2 inch hitch receiver and does not need an adapter, since you are only looking to carry 3 bikes, there is a similar option I recommend but is a 3-bike rack:
- Saris Bones 3-Bike Rack # SA883
The Bones # SA883 will also fit a 2 inch hitch without an adapter needed, but is a better option since you're only carrying three bikes. It is also easier to handle than the Thule Hitching Post Pro because the Bones, at 19 lbs, weighs less than half of the Thule rack.
I also like its cradles much more as they are ratcheting straps that are able to adjust to the exact size of your bike frame. The straps on the Thule rack have holes cut out of them so they don't have the adjustment range of the Bones. So since you only want to carry 3 bikes, the more secure, easier to use rack that I recommend is definitely the Saris Bones 3-Bike Rack # SA883.
If you would like to add locks, you could do so with the Saris Cable Lock # SA981 to lock your bikes to the rack, or to lock the rack to your hitch, you would need the Hitch Tite Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock # SA3022.
Additionally, for either of these racks (and all hanging bike racks) if you plan on carrying kids' bikes or bikes with a step-through or alternative frame you will need to give the bikes a horizontal mounting point by using an adapter, the Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005.
