Recommended Upgradeable Weight Distribution Hitch for Flagstaff E-Pro

Question:

Hi! I just purchased a Flagstaff E-Pro #15TB with a Hitch weight of 357 lbs, UVW of 2667 lbs and CCC of 1210 lbs. I think the Blue Ox TrackPro with 7 hole shank and 600 lb hitch weight and 6000 lbs capacity will fit it. It comes with a 2inch hitch ball, and the E-Pro requires a 2 5/16inch ball. So I need to get the larger hitch ball. However, in 2 years I plan to upgrade to a larger trailer, and use the same hitch. So, can I go ahead and put on a ball with a higher weight capacity of 10,000 lbs now? And do I understand correctly, that when I go to a larger trailer at that point I can just order the the 10,000 lbs rated spring bars? Thanks!

The Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 6K GTW, 600 lbs TW # BLU36FR would be perfect for your Flagstaff E-Pro #15TB. With a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs your trailer should fall nicely in the middle even when loaded. Keep in mind, the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle is included in your tongue weight.

The # BLU36FR uses a hitch ball with a 1-1/4" diameter shank. You can use something like the Curt 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Chrome # C40030. This has a weight capacity of 15,000 lbs so it will be more than enough to handle your heavier trailer in the future.

You are also correct that you can upgrade the spring bars when you get a larger trailer assuming it isn't too large. You could get the Replacement 1,300-lb Spring Bars for Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution System - Qty 2 # BLU32FR which have a tongue weight capacity of 1,000-1,300 lbs and gross towing weight of 13,000 lbs. The 1,300 lbs would also be the limit of your shank. Beyond that you would be looking at a different hitch. If the tongue weight falls into the 800-1,000 lb range, the # BLU52FR spring bars are also available.
