Is My Propane Pigtail Bad

Question:

For this product: MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Type 1 x 1/4inch Male Inverted Flare - 15inch Item # 100575-15-MBS if the check valve is activated, will it automatically reset once gas is removed? I have such a hose and it has stopped working. I am assuming it is "bad" and will be ordering a replacement if needed

If the hose has stopped working you will need a new one to be safe. You can see a replacement MB Sturgis Propane Pigtail - Type 1 x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 15" # 100575-15-MBS in this link.

A spring keeps the safety relief valve closed as long as the pressure inside the tank is at a safe level. If the pressure in the tank reaches the same amount of pressure of the spring, the safety relief valve is opened. If that happens, you’ll hear a hissing sound coming from the tank. In instances where the pressure in the tank is much higher than that of the spring, the valve will fully open. You’ll hear a pop if that occurs.

Once the pressure is down below the pressure of the spring, the valve closes on its own.

That said if yours has not reset you will need a new one.
