Blue Ox Weight Distribution System for Kaufman Dump Trailer that Has Rating of up to 10k lb
Question:
2005 Ford F-250 4x4 with a weight distribution capable of 12,500 lbs. max. gross trailer weight @ 1,250 lbs. max. tongue weight. I will be towing a Kaufman Dump trailer with a 10,000 lb. gross trailer weight. I was looking at the Blu Ox Track Pro 13K Mod.# BLU35FR and the Blu Ox 10K, 1.2TW Mod.# BLU75FR weight distribution systems. Which would be the more correct system to use or could you recommend a better system?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Assuming your dump trailer would be near it's gross trailer weight of 10,000 lbs the higher rated Blue Ox TrackPro part # BLU35FR would be the better option as it has a tongue weight range of 1,000-1,300 lbs.
But with dump trailers it can be challenging to use a weight distribution system since the way the system is setup is based completely on the tongue weight of the trailer and dump trailers have this figure vary quite a bit. You most likely will find that you'll have to have the bars disconnected when the trailer is not loaded.
