Can a 2013 Ford Escape Tow an Aluma Trailer with LED Tail Lights

Question:

I was wondering if you carry a pre-made 4way flat female/male load resistor adapter for my trailer plug. Ford does have a work around, but it is a brand new car and a brand new trailer and I do not want to mess up the wiring right now. The Ford dealer is also thinking that waiting for the up grade to the software is a better way to go.

If your 2013 Ford Escape has a factory 4-Way, there should not be any issues towing a trailer with LED lights. Some European vehicles have an issue when towing a trailer with LED lights (dash shows a bulb out error) but this does not damage the wiring on the vehicle or trailer and I have not heard of this being an issue on a Ford.

If you need to add a wiring harness that is compatible with LED trailer lights, I recommend # 118566. This is a circuit protected powered converter and it is compatible with LED lights. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.

There is an adapter made for the issue of the bulb out sensor on European vehicles that you could use but your Escape would have to have a 7-Way connector. The adapter is # C35FR.
