How Does The Tekonsha Primus IQ TK90160 Get Installed In A 2007 Chevy Suburban W/ Tow Package?
Question:
Hi, I have 2007 Chevy Suburban LT with factory tow package added when I bought new. From what I have read on your site there is no 7 way connector or harness for this year. What type of white tag should I look for. There is one that has a list of color wire to operation or an indication of ground, power etc.. These have electrical band of tape around them. There is also a harness all covered so can not see any wire colors, with a big white tag with a # 15044 on it. Will this unit work with my 07? what would be the correct wiring? I found this on your site, but for a different controller an Odyessy. Expert Reply: The 2007 Suburban does not require a wiring adapter. The tow package wiring is easily accessible and would wire directly to the brake controller. The wiring is located above the emergency brake pedal, and is taped to a wiring harness. Look for a white tag hanging off of the wiring. The four wires are red, dark blue, light blue and white. The red tow package wire connects to the black wire on the controller, the dark blue tow package wire connects to the blue brake controller wire, the light blue tow package wire attaches to the red brake controller wire, and the white wire on the tow package connects with the white wire on the brake controller. expert reply by: Sarah

On your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban there is not trailer brake controller port to plug in a trailer brake controller like on newer vehicles, and instead GM ran the wires needed to connect to the controller and just left them underneath the dash.
Above the emergency brake pedal there will be four wires, a red/black wire, a white wire, a light blue/white wire, and a dark blue wire.
To install the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 you were wanting you will need to make the following connections:
Red/black factory wire to black wire on controller harness
White factory wire to white wire on controller harness
Light blue/white factory wire to red controller wire
Dark blue factory wire to blue controller wire.
I included a video of the # TK90160 for you to take a look at, along with a help article made for installing a trailer brake controller in a 2007 Suburban like yours.
