Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Will Not Stay Open with Handle Locked in Open Position

My new Reece 20K m5 jaw will not stay open so it can hook up. Seems the lever will not make it open

If your Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30928 is not staying in the open, there could be something blocking the internals of your hitch. Usually this means there is some dirt and grime that got mixed up with the grease used to lubricate the mechanism. If you take just the head off and flip it over you might be able to see this more clearly. If you clean off the old grease and reapply some new grease that could be all you need.
