How To Determine Turning Radius Of 2022 Ford F-350 6-3/4 Bed When Towing 5th Wheel W/ B&W Companion

Question:

Do you know the expected maximum turning radius of this configuration? The BWRVK3300 has 2 in adjustment forward / backward, correct? I have not purchased the BWRVK3300 yet. I prefer not to add the Sidewinder King Pin. Grand Design 303RLS with Max Turn Radius cap Thanks

I wish I had an exact measurement for you, but there is not a way for us to figure the max turning radius of your 2022 Ford F-350 with the 6-3/4' bed when using the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3300 you mentioned as a large part of turning clearance is the trailer itself.

If you follow this formula of (A+B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from the center of fifth-wheel hitch jaw to truck cab, B = Length of Travel (14"), C = Width of trailer divided by 2 (to get half) that will tell you the cab clearance and give you an idea of the turning radius.

If your trailer has tapered nose which it looks like your Grand Design 303RLS has, you will get some additional clearance compared to a trailer with a standard nose.

With that in mind even though this hitch does have up to 2" rearward adjustment in the head you will still more than likely not get a full 90 degree's of turning clearance due to your short bed. While that is not necessarily a deal breaker it is something to keep in mind so you do not damage the cab on your new truck.

For trucks like yours that have the short bed it is recommended to go with a slider hitch to gain the extra trailer to cab clearance when turning. The best option is going with the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide # DM8550024 as you do not have to get out and unlock/lock the slider each time you make a sharp turn, and the additional 14" of travel gives you plenty of cab clearance. This will keep you from needing to get a rotating pin box.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
