Swapping to Larger 9/16 Wheel Studs On a 2017 Dutchmen Voltage 4005 5TH Wheel Toy Hauler

Question:

My current trailer has 1/2 studs. Can I use 9/16 studs with my current rims? The trailer is a 2017 voltage 4005 with LCI axles. I would just need to buy new lug nuts. My axle is V000209130.

Your Lippert Axle uses 1/2"-20X1.99" studs that have a 0.617 knurl for seating in the hub. I can recommend you a replacement hub assembly that does have the 9/16" studs, as I cannot locate any 9/16"-18 studs that have the same knurl dimensions.

The etrailer Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-865-7-1-K come preloaded with the 9/16" studs, lug nuts, new races, and bearings as well as a grease seal. This will also save you the time of having to press out and in all the wheel studs on your 2017 Voltage 4005 toy hauler.

I reached out to Dutchmen to see if they could confirm that your wheel will fit both the 9/16" and 1/2" wheel studs that most 16" aluminum wheels like those on your Voltage usually do. Unfortunately, they were not able to provide me with that information and they could not tell me who made the wheels. You will need to confirm that your wheel lug openings are large enough for a 9/16" wheel stud. If you have a spare this will save you from having to remove a wheel to check.
