What is the Difference Between Trailer Tire Size ST205/65D14 and Size F65-14ST

Question:

I need to replace a Tow Master II tire ST205/65D14. I was offered a Tow-Master F65-14ST. This F65-14ST looks to be smaller? Is this possible? and can I purchase the exact tire on the trailer which is the ST205/65D14?

Expert Reply:

The F65-14ST trailer tire is a comparable size to the ST205/65-14 size. However we do not carry either tire size at this time. The closest tire size we have is the ST205/75-14, like the item you selected, Loadstar ST205/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1ST86.

The ST205/65-14 tire has an overall height of 24.49 inches and a width of 8.07 inches. The overall height of a the Loadstar # AM1ST86 measures 26.1 inches, and the overall width is 8.07 inches. You will want to measure your existing trailer tire and wheel mounted to determine if you will have the height and width clearance on your trailer for a larger ST205/75-14 tire.

You will also need to check to make sure the load capacity of the tires can handle the Gross Trailer Weight of your trailer. The Loadstar # AM1ST86 is a load range C tire and has a maximum load capacity of 1,760 lbs at 50 PSI.

I have linked an FAQ on trailer tire sizes and an FAQ on tire and wheels.
