In order to get a 7-way connection on your 2001 Dodge Van 2500 without a factory trailer connector you will need to start with a 4-way connection.
I recommend the Tekonsha 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252. This kit will hardwire into your Dodge van and comes with quick-splice connectors and a circuit tester. Once you install your 4-way you will be able to add the 7-way connection.
I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. This universal kit comes with the adapter and everything else you will need to upgrade the 4-way into a 7-way. The adapter has both a 4-way and 7-way connection on it so you will be able to use both connections as needed.
Although we do not have installation videos for a 2001 Dodge Van, I attached some videos that should give you a good idea on what the installation entails. I also attached a helpful article on 7-way wiring for your reference.
