Will the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2-Bike Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2013 BMW X3

Question:

I am interested in the Hollywood HR1450 bike rack for a 2013 BMW X3 with the BMW 2inch receiver. The BMW receiver is removable from the vehicle and has a plate at the end of it limiting how deep a ball and tongue can be ed into the receiver and have the hole for the pin to line up. The HR1450 has a slot rather than a hole to line up and it would look like it would work but I wanted to make sure that it would be compatible with the BMW receiver. Also do you believe the hatch would still be able to be opened with the rack attached to the vehicle? The hatch is electrically operated and it is not easy to stop its movement once the open button is pushed. Thank you for any information you could provide.

I went out o the warehouse to measure the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2, # HR1450Z. From the end of the shank to the nearest part of the elongated pin hole it measures 1-3/8 inches. From the end to the center of the hole it is 2-3/4 inches. And from the end to the farthest end of the hole it is 4-1/8 inches. I have included a picture to illustrate these measurements.

As for the rear hatch with the center arm folded down the rear hatch should be no problem. If the arm is up and the rack is tilted it is still likely the hatch can open but I cannot verify that. With bikes loaded it is less likely that the hatch will be able to open freely. However, you have not tested this rack on a 2013 BMW X3 so I cannot say for sure. There are other factors involved such as the size bikes on the rack and the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the rear bumper on the vehicle.
