What Is the Difference Between the EcoHitch and Stealth Hitch for the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek

Question:

I have a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek Premium trim level with manual transmission. I plan to use the hitch for a bike rack as well as light towing of a small trailer for hauling. Towing a small camper may also be in my future. I am interested in a hidden hitch such as the Ecohitch #306-X7365 or Stealth #391SUCT18 because I want to maintain as much ground clearance as I can when not towing. Both models are rather expensive when compared to those that have non-removable receivers but I was wondering if you could describe the practical differences between the Ecohitch and Stealth. Thank you for your help. Regards

The difference between the EcoHitch # 306-X7365 and the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2" # 391SUCT18T is that the Stealth hitch comes with everything you'd need to tow a trailer including the hitch ball and ball mount, as well as the trailer wiring harness. The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek only has a 200-lbs tongue weight capacity and a 1500-lbs towing capacity and you're always limited by the lowest rated component in your towing setup; in this case it will be the vehicle, so you're not gaining any higher capacity by choosing one over the other.

If you were to go with the EcoHitch # 306-X7365 and you needed to tow a trailer you would need to get a wiring harness like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467, as well as a ball mount, hitch ball and hitch pin. I typically recommend going with a ball mount kit like the # EBMK4 since it gives you a ball mount, 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls, a hitch pin, clip and carrying bag all in one package.
