Can The Swagman Current Ratcheting Hooks Accommodate A Ride1up 500 Series XR E-Bike
Question:
I’m looking for a bike rack for my ebike Ride1up 500 Series XR. I like the Swagman Current, but just wondering if the lockdowns on that rack work ok with a slanted cross tube? I know that they hold the frame at the cross tube so just want to check. Also, I think there is another Swagman rack called e-spec, do you know how this rack is different? Thanks,

If you look through the customer photos on the Swagman Current Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64678 product page you can see other bike owners with bikes that have very slanted cross tubes like your Ride1up 500 Series XR. The padded hook has enough of a bend to catch the cross tube and tighten down to keep your bike from falling over but if you want to be extra careful you can use the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005 which will provide a straighter attachment point for the hook to grip onto.
The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S94FR is a similar design but with a few differences. It only fits 2" hitches whereas the Current fit 1-1/4" & 2" hitches. It has a weight capacity per bike of 70lbs and the Current has 60lbs. The Current is only rated for cars, vans, trucks, SUVs, and motorhomes while the E-Spec can also be towed on travel trailers, fifth wheels, and flat towed vehicles. There are some dimensional differences between the two and the E-Spec is 11lbs heavy because it's a heavier duty design. The Current comes ready for fat tires while the E-Spec needs a wheel adapter # S64679 to be able to haul fat tire bikes.
