How to Determine Replacement Leaf Springs for 2007 Forest River Salem 5th Wheel

Question:

I have a 2007 Forest River Salem fifth wheel and want to replace the leaf springs. The ones on the trailer are 4 leafs and measure 25 3/4 from the center of the eyes, 1/34 wide. I am not ale to find springs that meet that specification. Do you have a suggestion of what I should replace them with. Thanks

The # e47SR leaf springs you'd looked at are designed for 6K capacity axles.

In order to get an accurate measurement of your leaf springs, you'll need to put the 5th wheel up on jack stands so the axles hang freely. Then measure the center eye to center eye length of the existing springs. This is very important because leaf springs tend to flatten out over time. If you have tandem 6K axles, it's very possible that your leaf springs have flattened out by 5/8 of an inch.

To confirm, you'll need to measure your spring length as mentioned above as well as identify the capacity of your axles. The axle capacity should be listed on the 5th wheel's ID plate that has the VIN on it. A 6K axle is typically 3 inches in diameter.
