What is the Quietest Weight Distribution System to Use When Towing?
Question:
I currently have a husky centerline that is very annoying with popping sounds. It works very well with sway control but would like to find something quieter. Tongue weight fully loaded is about 950lbs.

We definitely have weight distribution systems available that will work for you, but I do need to mention that the popping sound is completely normal and means the system is working properly. Weight distribution and sway control are managed by pressure and or tension, so there will always be some noise.
Something like the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66559 will use friction pads for this pressure so there will not be metal on metal contact at the end of the spring bars, but there will still be popping when turning.
From here, the Reese Strait-Line # RP66084 will use a different style for the spring bar tension. Chains will typically be quieter than the brackets used on your Center Line or the Reese # RP66084. However, the cam style sway control system used on this will also make quite a bit of noise when turning.
The Reese # RP66542 will be the Strait-Line system without the cam style sway control and will end up being quieter, but it will not offer any sway control. To get sway control, you would need an extra part like the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000. This will tie into the trailer brakes and work independently from the weight distribution system. So it will be quieter than your Center Line, but will be an expensive set up.
Again, all weight distribution systems will make noise and even the expensive 2 part set up I mentioned will as well, so to be perfectly honest, I would keep your Husky Center Line. Especially if it is performing well and the sway control is doing its job properly. All the previously mentioned systems will work, but other than the expensive set up, I can't say with 100% certainty if they will be any quieter than your Husky.
