Can a 2014 Toyota 4Runner Use a Weight Distribution System
Question:
Re a previous 2014 4runner owners question about the installation of a weight distribution hitch, WDH. I have the vehicle listed above. I talked to the Sales, Parts, and Service departments of two Toyota dealers and could not get any information re installation of a WDH. I called TorkLift in Auburn/Kent, WA, and they indicated that a WDH could be Installed on that vehicle if the frame was a Full frame, and not a Uni-bodyfoot frame. I called Hinshaw Frame Shop, at the dealers advice, and they checked, using the VIN # of my 4runner, and told me that my 4runner did in fact have a Full frame, so that a WDH could be installed and would work effectively. Your thoughts?

I checked the owner's manual for a 2014 Toyota 4Runner and there was no mention of a weight distribution system being permitted or not. Therefore, I must recommend reaching out to the vehicle manufacturer for compatibility. That said, generally speaking if the vehicle has a body on frame and a frame mounted hitch then it can use a weight distribution system. If permitted, I recommend the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17499 with 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball part # C40030. This is a great system with built-in sway control and easy to install no-drill frame brackets.
