As long as you have a factory 7-way at the rear of your 2012 Ram 1500 the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3021-P that you referenced would be the correct product for you.
If you do not have a trailer connector you will first need to start with a 4-way. For that I recommend the Draw Tite Hardwire kit # 119178KIT. Next you will need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. For that I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product for you to check out also.
