Troubleshooting Warning Lights In A 2021 Ford F-150 After Installing Flat Towing Equipment

Question:

Since the Blue Ox flat tow system was installed on out 2021 F150 we get all kinds of alerts when starting the truck. The cruise controls do not work either.

Normally if there is an issue with adaptive cruise control after installing flat towing equipment it's either that the base plates are not compatible with adaptive cruise control and are blocking the sensors or that they were installed incorrectly and are interfering with the sensors. The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU33FR you linked to are compatible with adaptive cruise control sensors so ensure that that's what you received and had installed.

The cruise control system gets power from the ignition switch through a fuse, so check the fuses. Also check the horn relay fuse and cigarette lighter fuse as switches may also get power through those as well.

You'll also want to check the throttle actuator cable, it may be broken or disconnected from the throttle.

Check the brake light bulbs to make sure one isn’t burnt out. A burned-out bulb can sometimes cause a cruise control problem on some F-150's.

Next you'll want to check the brake light switch, fuse, and wiring.

If after checking all of this you do not find the cause of the issue then please reply back and we can keep troubleshooting.
