Solution For Transporting 2 Heavy Bikes On The Back Of A 2020 Hyundai Kona
Question:
Weve used seris bone before but they were lighter bikes these are on the heavier side 42 so Im guessing in going to have to splurge and get a hitch class 1 since most trunk rack are 35 pounds. Also issue weve noticed that our bumper is basically non-existent on our hyundai 2020 kona sel plus. If Im forced to get a trailer hitch and a rack from allen or thule though thule only lists Receiver class 2 or higher The bikes in question are youth 26 inch schwnn mountain bikes

That is correct, the bike racks that fit the trunk of your 2020 Hyundai Kona only have a weight capacity of 35lbs per bike which will not be sufficient for your 42lb bikes. I recommend adding Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT52GR; I would choose this because the 2" hitch opening gives you many more choices of bike racks.
I would look at the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HR200Z which is a very popular and affordable carrier. This is frame-mount, so it is compatible with a large variety of bike styles and sizes. The weight capacity is 45lbs per bike and it fits tires up to 3" wide. I attached a demonstration video for you.
