What Are My Options for Transporting My Bikes on My 2018 Audi Q7?
Question:
I have some slightly unusual bikes, and Im trying to find a rack that could fit them all, or at least three at a time. Im driving a 2018 Audi Q7 with the 3.0L engine, so hitch weight shouldnt be an issue. The bikes: Tern GSD S10 cargo bike w/rear Clubhouse rack: 75 lbs w/o batteries, 20inch x 2.4inch tires Benno Remidemi: 57 lbs w/o batteries, 20inch x 4.25inch tires Zooz UU 750: 50 lbs w/o battery, bmx style, 24inch x 2.5inch tires Kidsfoot bike: dont know the specs, but its for my 7-year-old son The possible combinations are A Tern, Benno, kidsfoot bike B Zooz, Benno, kidsfoot bike C Tern and Benno D Zooz and Benno In an ideal world, Id find a rack that can do both A and B. If thats not possible, one that can do both C and D would be the next best. With this rack or any other, honestly be able to do this?

Unfortunately, the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B-NA22B will not be the best option because the per-bike weight capacity decreases to 50 pounds per-bike if you are transporting a total of 3 bikes on the rack. With that capacity, you would not be able to transport your Benno Remidemi or your Tern GSD S10. Also, from my research, the Tern GSD S10 and the Benno Remidemi both have fenders. Here at etrailer, we do not recommend transporting a fendered bike with wheel-mounted attachment style because of the potential damage and cracking from bumps and torque during transport.
With that being said, we do not carry a 3-bike or 4-bike bike frame-mounted bike rack that will be able to accommodate the weight of the Tern, Benno, and kids bike or the Zooz, Benno, and kids bike. However, for 2-bike options, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. Since the Sport Rider SE will be able to accommodate bikes up to 80 pounds, you will be able to attach any combination of your Tern, Benno, and Zoos bikes without risking any damage to the fenders.
If you need a hitch recommendation for your 2018 Audi Q7 to transport the Sport Rider SE, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e99KR. The etrailer hitch comes with all hardware required for a bolt-on installation.
Also, if you want to carry your kid's bike, you can always attach a roof-mounted bike rack to a crossbar system on your vehicle. For this route, I recommend the RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Mounted Bike Rack # RKY1201. However, we cannot confirm for sure if your kid's bike will fit this rack without the wheel diameter measurement. For a compatible roof rack for your 2018 Audi Q7, I recommend the following parts:
- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 53" Long - Qty 2 # TH711400
- Rapid Podium Feet for Thule Crossbars - Fixed Point - Qty 4 # TH460R
- Fit Kit for Thule Podium-Style Roof Rack Feet - 3145 # THKIT3145
With this roof rack system, you will be able to mount the BrassKnuckles to your roof. To confirm whether your kid's bike with fit onto the BrassKnuckles, feel free to respond with the bike's wheel diameter.
