If your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has a removable hard top and an aftermarket soft top is an option then, I would recommend the Bestop Trektop NX # B5685335. This is one of our more popular products, and it features Bestop premium sailcloth, which compared to vinyl or denim is more durable. It reduces road noise, and is mildew and UV resistant. This system also offers a built-in fold-back sunroof, and the side and rear curtains are removable to allow for additional air flow. It is available in black diamond.

Currently, there are no roof rack options that work with Jeep Soft Tops, but if your son would like to carry his paddle board without the top installed, he could use a roof rack like the Thule Complete Crossroad Kit, # TH45058. We also offer the Thule SUP Taxi Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier # TH810 that is specific for carrying paddleboards. It can carry up to 2 boards, and is compatible with the # TH45058 rack.

If you would like to add support while transporting your paddleboard, I would suggest the Rhino-Rack T-Load # RTL002 to be used in conjunction with the roof rack. This is a hitch mounted accessory that can be used in a front or rear 2 inch hitch. This T-Load style adds lateral support for hauling longer loads, and would be feasible to use as a front hitch accessory or rear hitch accessory while carrying the paddleboard, depending on the length of the board. The T-Load has a maximum weight capacity of 165 pounds.

If you wish to have it rear mounted please consider using a extender to allow for clearance of the full size spare tire. I would suggest the Brophy # HE12. This extender is designed for 2 inch hitch style, and provides an extension of 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin holes. Please note that when using a hitch extender it reduces the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.

If you would like a front mount hitch I would recommend the Draw-Tite Front mount hitch # 65069. It allows for easily attachment of a variety of accessories. Please be conscious with front mounted hitch accessories and clearance with the front bumper/grill of this Jeep. Please be aware that the Goalpost has a measurement of 7-3/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright bar
