An excellent solution to your problem, would be the Hopkins Endurance Universal 7 Way 8' Extension # HM20049. This plugs into the existing 7-way, RV-style connector on your truck and runs to your truck bed to give you an easy-to-access plug for connecting your fifth-wheel or gooseneck trailer's wiring.
Additionally, part # C56000 would be an excellent addition for your Chevrolet Silverado because it adds a connection point in the truck bed as oppose to the bumper.
