2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee No Lights After Wiring Harness Install
Question:
I ordered the Draw-tite 75699 hitch and Reese 74682 wiring harness for my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Outlander since it came from the factory without the tow package but had the wiring plug at the back of the car. Hitch installed with no problem , wiring harness plugged into the Jeep wiring plug but I have only running lights at the trailer when I turn on the car lights but no turn /brake lights at the trailer. I checked and all the fuses are installed , also checked the wiring harness connections with a volt/ohmeter. Have you seen this before ? My son is a master Toyota mechanic 400 miles away from me and his research does no show that the car should need programming at the dealer. Thank

It's pretty common on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to have the dealer activate the tow package port due to trailer lights not working after the installation of a trailer wiring harness like a Reese Multi-Plug Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package part # 74682. The fuses are always the first thing to check but if you still don't have proper function you will need to take the vehicle into the dealer for service.
