Correct Length of Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars for 2018 Ford Escape for Thule Hullavator
Question:
I plan to purchase the Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs-Side Loading, #TH898. My 2018 Ford Escape came with factory-installed luggage racks which run front to back. I know the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars I want to purchase need to have 4-8inch overhang in order for the Hullavator to clear my vehicle in the kayak loading position. In order to achieve the 4-8inch overhang, what is the correct length on the cross bars I will need to purchase? They come in 49, 53, and 60inch lengths. Please let me know which length to purchase. Thank you! Also, can you make any recommendations for professional installers of both the roof rack and kayak carrier in the Stuart, Florida area?

I checked with Thule and their Wingbar Evo roof rack part numbers # TH711420 and # TH710401 has been tested with the Thule Hullavator Pro part # TH898 and it was determined it fit and worked great so this would be the route you'd want to go. These bars are 53 inches long which will be long enough for the carrier to install as well as wouldn't be so long that you might bang your head on them!
The install of this would be pretty basic for an experienced mechanic in your area so if you know of one with a good reputation that's where'd I'd take it.
I attached an install video for this rack on a similar 2018 Ford Escape for you to check out as well.
