Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Installed and Trailer Brake Lights Wont Turn Off

Question:

Installing a voyager controller on a Toyota Tacoma. Voltages all read as expected on the truck harness but when I plug it in to the controller pigtail the brake lights are always on. There is a weak current on the trailer plug as I expect, and the LED shows a weak green light. I just cant get the brake lights to go out. If I unplug the controller everything except the electric brakes works as it should. What might be activating the trucks brake lights?

There could be a few things going on here but it would seem that you possibly aren't on the cold side of the brake light switch when connecting the red wire on your Tekonsha Voyager # 39510; if you're using a plug and play adapter then it's possible that there could be a short on this circuit.

If you can let me know how you're installing this controller I can give you a few steps to check out further.
