Recommended Blue Ox Baseplate and Flat Towing Parts for a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer

Question:

I just bought a new 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and own a blue ox tow bar that I used on a prior towed vehicle. Would this baseplate fit and work for me on my new trailblazer? My trailblazer is an AWD LT model, so I know it’s towable.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BO74FR are not a confirmed fit for a 2022 Chevy Trailblazer but the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BLU49FR are and will work with your Blue Ox tow bar without needing an adapter.

You'll want to ensure that the tow bar you have is rated to handle the weight of your vehicle prior to towing it. You'll also need a tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for you below:

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights
Item # RM26FR. This kit will splice into your vehicle's wiring to signal using its tail lights instead of having to run magnetic lights to the rear of your vehicle every time you need to tow.

Since you'll need to disconnect the battery to tow you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 to make it as simple as flipping a switch.

Braking System: Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional Item # BLU37TR. This system offers precise, responsive that can be easily switched between towed cars. The LED display lets you easily adjust braking power, apply manual override, and monitor the system from your motorhome.

Since you'll have the battery disconnected you'll need to install a 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 to power the braking system.

Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs Item # RM-643. The coiled design of these cables will prevent them from dragging on the ground and being damaged.
