Solution for Towing Small Trailer and Carrying Hitch Bike Rack at Rear of Vehicle
Question:
My Sprinter van camper has a 2” receiver with a 5000# tow capacity and 500# tongue weight. I want to use this adapter to tow a boat in the bottom receiver that has a 280# tongue weight and carry a bike rack/e-bikes weighing 200# in the top receiver. Will this work safely?

Expert Reply:
I have a solution for you but the # RM-077-2 that you referenced was not designed for use when towing a trailer so we can't recommend it for this application. Instead you'd want the part # D210 which has a ball mount platform on the bottom of it and a hitch opening up top you can use for your e-bike rack.
