Using Cushioned Ball Mount with Surge or Hydraulic Trailer Brakes
Question:
Is it ok to use this cushioned ball mount in conjunction with a trailer that has surger brakes?

Expert Reply:
You can certainly use a cushioned ball mount like the Convert-A-Ball # AMSC2HD along with a trailer that is equipped with a surge or hydraulic brake coupler.
The dampening action of the cushioned ball mount will not affect how efficiently the surge coupler compresses and actuates the trailer brakes, but it will lessen the jarring felt when the ballmount moves against the hitch pin.
I have linked you to our Ball Mount FAQ which will walk you through the process of choosing a ball mount with the proper rise or drop for your needs.
