Determine Correct Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch For 2017 Heartland Mallard M32 TT

Question:

Im currently using a round bar weight distribution setup Im looking to switch into The Equal-i-zer. My question is how do I determine what weight rating is the better choice? Im looking at the 16000 lb equal-i-zer setup. Im towing a 2017 Heartland Mallard M32 with a dry weight of 9600 they claim tongue weight is around 510. My tow vehicle is 2016 crew cab long box 2500HD.

The only way to know which weight distribution hitch rating is going to be correct for your 2017 Heartland Mallard M32 and Truck is going to be by finding your total tongue weight.

Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck. Using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 is the easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight rating, but there are other methods outlined in the included help article.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 16,000 lbs GTW, 1,600 lbs TW # EQ64FR you were looking at works with total tongue weights between 1200-1600lbs and will likely be too stiff for your trailer.

An option like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET would likely be closer to what you need as it works with tongue weights between 800-1200lbs.

If you can tell me your total tongue weight I would be happy to confirm the best weight distribution hitch for your setup.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
