Compatibility of Sport Rider Bike Rack With Yakima BackSwing
Question:
Is this trike rack compatible with a swing-away hitch adapter, such as the Yakima backswing? The product says that the rack must be a dedicated 2” receiver fit, not an adapter. I have a 2014 Subaru Outback with 2” receiver hitch and need a swing-away rack to accommodate dog crating in the trunk.

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Rack for Recumbent/Trike, # HR1000Z-R-TRKADP, per Yakima Tech Rep, is not compatible with the Yakima BackSwing, # Y02483. While increasing the shank size via an adapter that fits into the unit may be acceptable it has not been tested by Yakima for products outside their build is their cause for statement. You definitely will not want to attempt to use an adapter such as the, # 80303 that extends too.
