Determining If Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch Will Still Work After Upgrading Trailer
Question:
Hello I currently have a 2017 Toyota Tundra with a payload of 1300 I had been towing a 30 ft jayco trailer that weighed about 7,000 lb using a fast way E2 hitch. It had 80 gallons of water storage so its sagged pretty good once I filled up with water but I only filled up when I got close to my destination. We are currently looking at getting a grand design imagine 2800 BH with that hitch still be sufficient? If not I was looking at upgrading to an equalizer if you guys think that would be better? I know going to a 3/4 ton truck would be the way to go but we are trying to use the truck that we have maybe upgrade if we absolutely have to but we love using travel trailers. In your opinion is it even safe to be towing with the tundra I have towed in some pretty heavy winds with that jayco and it seemed fine no issues I take it slow. Any advice would help thank you, oh and I also have airbags for the tundra firestonesinch that I bought from you guys and just had them installed. We just want to make sure this combination is going to be okay for the 2800 BH. Thank you so much any advice would be appreciated.

It is possible that the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Hitch # FA94-00-1061 you have with a 10000lb trailer weight rating may work for the new 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH Travel Trailer you were looking at, but you would first need to confirm your total tongue weight.
To determine your trailers total tongue weight you will need to measure the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer, and the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2017 Toyota Tundra. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight rating is a with a tongue weight scale like the # e99044 but there are other methods outlined in the included help article.
The # FA94-00-1061 works with total tongue weights between 600-1000lbs so as long as you are staying within that range your current hitch will work just fine.
If you find your new setup is over 1000lbs total tongue weight you will want to step up to a heavier duty weight distribution hitch. I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # FA92-00-1200 which works with total tongue weights between 800-1200lbs. The only real benefit of the Equal-i-zer hitches over the Fastway e2 is that it has 4-point sway control which does a better job of keeping your trailer straight if you are experiencing severe sway.
Now moving on to your question about towing with your Tundra, as long as you are not exceeding the towing capacity of your truck there is no real reason to move on to a 3/4 ton truck.
Lastly your current Firestone Air Helper Spring Kit on your truck will still work perfectly fine with your potential new trailer and weight distribution hitch.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
