Cleaning OEM Tow Package Port for Curt 4-Way T-Connector on 2002 Ford F-250
Question:
Hello, I plan on purchasing the C55265 wiring harness for my 2002 F250 super duty. I located the plug on the underside of the truck, however, it is pretty dirty with bits of dried mud and road grime. Heaven only knows how long this has been unprotected. Can you recommend anything that I can possibly use to clean the plug to assure good contact with the harnesses plug. Thanks

Based on what you have sent, it is highly unlikely this connector will still work. For your OEM tow package port the best thing I could suggest would be trying to use some electrical contact cleaner. You may want to start by using a small diameter brush or toothpick and attempt to scrape away the heavy dirt and debris or try wiping it with a dry cloth. After this is done, try using the cleaner and the brush.
You could use a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 Hook Probe Circuit Tester to check and see if the port is working after you clean it. If it is not, I recommend using the # C58044 Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector - 60" Wire Lead.
If you remove the connector you could splice the wires of this wiring harness together with the wires on your vehicle. Since as far as I can tell your wires have no color to them, you would also need to use a circuit tester to determine the function of each wire in order to attach it to the correct wire on the 4-way wiring harness.
I have attached a video review for your reference.
