Is Cutting the Trim Necessary for the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver on a Subaru Impreza

Greetings. I have a 2020 Subaru Impreza 5-door hatch, and have looked at the reviews on your site, and on the bare-bones factory website installation video, which is just over 4 minutes long, btw. They dont show that it is necessary to cut out part of the bumper cover in the video, but I have noticed that this step mentioned in your reviews. p.s. have ordered hitches, wiring harnesses, etc, from you in the past. Great company.

Cutting out a slot in your trim is determined by the trim package on your model year. Some of the Subaru Impreza's have a lower trim piece that extends below the rear bumper cover. The instructions are extremely vague and cover a wide range of model years and trim packages. The instructions mainly cover the mechanical steps that focus on the actual mounting of the receiver and the removal of the trim pieces.
