What Hitch Allows You to Keep the Use of the Factory Impact Structure on a 2018 BMW X5

Question:

Considering one of these for my 2018 BMW X5. Ive read somewhere, that you can retain the BMW safety bar with the Draw-Tite, but not the Curt. Is this true? If so, the Draw-Tite would be the one I want. Thanks

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75600 does retain use of the factory impact structure bar, you would remove the impact bar during installation but then the impact bar would be put back in place. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13077 does take the place of the impact structure, the hitch would then provide the support and safety the impact bar once did. They both have 2" receiver openings, 600 pound tongue weight and 6000 pounds for trailer weight. Either hitch will work for your vehicle, it would just come down to your comfort level of retaining use of the factory impact bar or not.
