Trimming U-Bolts for Clearance on The Lippert Heavy Duty Shocks
Question:
Should we trim the ends of the U-Bolts on our 281281 Lippert shocks after installation, since there is 2inch excess above the nuts? I tried sending a 1.6 Mb picture, but it was unsuccessful. Will the excess hit the frame during large tire travel?

Expert Reply:
I recommend not trimming the ends on the U-bolts. The Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit item # LC281281 requires a minimum clearance of 4 inches from the inside of the tire to the I-beam flange on your trailer's frame, this was needed to install the upper mounting bracket. The travel of your suspension will not be impeded by the excess threads in your U-bolts.
