Is It Possible to Supply Propane to Grill that Has Regulator from RV Propane Tanks
Question:
Coleman 285 Grill Compatibility with Propane Quick Connect on Trailer Question: Hi: I have a Jayco trailer with propane lines at the rear. I have a coleman roadtrip 285 grill. I asked the folks at the RV store for a hose/adapter to use the camper quick connect coupling. They told me most grills will not work this way. The propane lines under the camper are low pressure and the grill needs high pressure. The grill has a regulator and it needs to be supplied with high pressure or it will not function properly. Only a few grills can be adapted to work this way and If you try to hook it up that way you will only get a very small flame. Are they correct? Would I be able to not use the grill regulator and have a good grill fire. asked by: Bill S Expert Reply: Your quick disconnect was designed for appliances like a grill or stove to be used. Certain grills do have a different connection that requires more power as your Coleman Roadtrip may. Based on some research there are many videos that show how to remove your regulator on your grill so it can be used with your quick connect, but it does require some modification of your grill connection with a kit that we dont offer. I instead recommend using the Camco 90-Degree Brass Propane Tee w/ 3 Ports and 12foot Long Extension Hose # CAM59143 which will install prior to your trailer regulator on the front of your trailer for the high pressure connection that requires no change to your grill. expert reply by: Jason S I read your Q and A about this grill and looked at the part CAM59143 you identified as well as watched the video as a fix for hooking my grill to the camper however, on my grill the gas bottle installs directly under the controls. My camper has a quick disconnect built into the location to attach the grill hose to. I believe some of this may be right but attachment to the RV is wrong. Any thoughts?

There isn't a great way to do what you are looking for but if you install a tee between your propane source and regulator like with the part # 103613-MBS you can access the higher pressure propane your grill needs.
So from there it would be a matter of matching up the propane fitting/connector on your grill so that we can get you propane from the tee directly to the grill.
