Raising Reese Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier 63153 Up a Few Inches on a 2010 Nissan Xterra
Question:
2010 Nissan Xterra Offroad 4x4 class iii. #1 Am thinking I might need a hitch riser for a couple more inches of clearance when going up/down the sides of washes. Any issues with adding another 4 to 8 inches or so via hitch riser adapter? #2 any issues connecting the accessory light kit to factory installed 7 pin harness connector for the brake, turning, other lighting? #3 is the cargo cover for this water resistant/proof?

The Reese trailer hitch mount cargo carrier, # 63153, has a rise in the shank already that raises the platform up 2-1/2 inches. The Nissan Xterra is a tall enough vehicle to where you most likely would not need any additional rise. But if you did you would need to use something like # MT70066 to raise it up a few more inches.
The lighting kit for this carrier # 20174 has a 4-Way flat connector. If your Xterra only has a 7-Way, you will need an adapter like # PK12716 and it will work great.
As far as a cargo cover being water resistant or proof I am not sure which one you are referring to. The carrier does not come with a cover but if you are referring to bag # e98990 it is considered weather resistant but not waterproof. For something to be considered waterproof it has to be able to be submerged under water for a certain amount of time and remain dry on the inside.
