Reese Goose Box Compatibility with a Recessed Ball Mount

Question:

I have a cm service bed on truck, the TM deluxe to be exact, it has a recessed gooseneck ball. I’m curious if there’s any information as in will the pivot point of the goose box pivot without any issue with a recessed box. The dimensions of the box are approximately 15” square and 3.5 inches deep I’m almost certain that I will have to relocate the trailer plug to another spot on the bed. The plug and the safety anchors are also in the recessed box..chain anchor points are on the vertical driver and passenger sides of the box. Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated

You won't have any clearance issues with your recessed mount and the Reese Goose Box item # RP85FR. At 4.5 inches up from the very bottom where the Goose Box clamps around the gooseneck ball, the clamp mechanism is 7-1/2 inches at its widest point. Because the clamp mechanism will sit about 1-1-1/2 inches above the floor of the recessed area, the Goose Box will have enough clearance to work just fine.

The main issue you will have is visibility while hooking up. The ball in the recessed box will be difficult if not impossible to see as you're trying to line up the Goose Box. You may need to have someone spotting for you and guiding you into position.
