Correct Bearing Buddy Bearing Protector Size To Replace 1.992" Metal Grease Cap

The o.d. on the current cap is 1.992 inches. Will the BB1980A work?

Yes the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors # BB1980A-SS are the correct replacements for your basic metal cap with a 1.992" outer diameter.
The thinner steel caps like yours and the 2" Lubed Dust Cap # DC200L-DCRP which has a diameter of 1.99" are slightly larger to create enough tension that they do no fall out of the hub bore.
I recommend using Industrial Strength Grease # L11390 to grease your bearings. This grease is highly water insoluble and will work great in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
