Troubleshooting Installation of B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Question:
As I set the torque on the top bolt to secure the hitch into the gooseneck It felt like the rod that runs thru the hitch bent. I am hoping that it did not, is this something that could happen?

It is possible to over torque hardware on the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # BWRVK3500-5W and bend that pin. When I talked with B&W about this issue they stated that torque specs are listed as a dry torque setting, if lubricant was used that will effect the torque value. They suggested that you examine the pin from under the vehicle to identify if bent. Another indication of possible damage is if in removing the unit it is difficult or impossible then yes it is damaged.
