Operating A Moonroof And Going Through A Car Wash With A Pioneer Platform On The Roof

Can we still open our moonroof and go through car wash with this mounted? 2018 Ford Expedition Limited Thanks!

I will answer the car wash question first. Rack manufacturers will say do not go through a car wash with a roof rack on your vehicle. Have I taken my vehicle with a roof rack through a car wash before, yes. It was brushless and my rack was fine afterwards. Do keep in mind that many car washes will not let you go through if you have a roof rack on your vehicle. This also comes from experience, I was removed from a car wash line before because I have a rack on my vehicle.

With regard to the moonroof being open, that would depend on how your roof opens on your 2018 Ford Expedition. Any rack system you purchase will have a disclaimer about sunroofs. Some manufacturers will flat out let you know not to use your sun roof. Others will say check to see if you have enough clearance before operating your sunroof. Your rack will attach to raised rails, unless it is a factory rack, so it is already higher in profile than a rack that clamps to the door frame of the vehicle. Due to this fact, you might have enough clearance to operate your sunroof, but you will not really know until you test it.
