Removing Old Andersen 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler For Replacement
Question:
Ive got a new Anderson hitch that works great. I replaced an older steel one. I have not replaced the coupler/adaptor yet in part because I cannot figure out how to get the old one off. I am sending you pictures and maybe you have suggestions. I have taken out the two set screws to either side of the cylinder. I think the cylinder spins off, but I want to make sure. I can get a 3/4 square socket into the square hole at the bottom of the cylinder. That seems to be the only logical place it attaches. I wanted to see if any of your techs had seen one of these and could help.

I spoke to Andersen and this one of their older couplers that they haven't used in years. While they did not have any copies of the instructions it was explained to me that you will need a 3/4" ratchet connection to turn the circle tubing off. You will turn it counter clockwise and it will expose the pieces necessary to remove the coupler assembly. There is a split collar that fits into the slot on the king pin. Above that is a threaded collar that pulls down on the split collars holding it in place.
Once removed you will be able to install the new Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System with Adapter # AM3200.
