Wireless Brake Controller for 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
Question:
I tested my 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk with factory towing package, 7-pin connector at the back with a trailer and the electric brakes of the trailer dont work. I was told that I could install a wireless brake controller e.g. Curts Echo controller and I would be able to operate the brakes of the trailer when towing. Could you explain what a controller such as the Curts Echo does to make the brakes work? I was told that I dont need to wire anything else in the vehicle. Thanks.

The Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller part # C51180 is a very unique brake controller but yes it can activate and actuate the brakes of your trailer. Basically you plug this into the 7-way of your Cherokee and once you sync it to your smart phone it controls the voltage of the brake output circuit of your trailer which is basically how hard the brakes are applied. It does this by sensing how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and applies a relative amount of braking power to the trailer's brakes.
I attached a review video for this controller for you to check out as well. Other controllers require a considerable amount of wiring which is why the Echo is so convenient.
