Can a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Tow a Trailer Using the Draw-Tite Sportframe Hitch

Question:

Can my 2011 Hyundai Sonata tow a 12x6 trailer? I know it’s not recommended but I’ve heard the right hitch can do the job. I’m moving long distance and just got a new grill that I want to keep and some more items that can’t all fit in my car.

Regarding towing, what the owners manual states is "don't tow a trailer during the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km) of operation," and "we do not recommend using this vehicle for trailer towing." The Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24965 has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs with a tongue weight of 200 lbs.

The limiting factor will be between the hitch and your vehicle, whichever has the lower towing capacity. Since there is no listed towing capacity, I recommend reaching out to your dealer to see if they can give you the necessary information. Assuming they can give you a towing capacity, you should be able to pull the trailer and grill along with the other items as long as it does not exceed the capacity of the hitch or the vehicle, whichever is less. It is also important to keep in mind that the weight of the trailer you are pulling is included in the towing weight.

I have a attached a review of the hitch for your reference.
