Which Tow Rating Do I Use For The Trailer Hitch Receiver On My 2021 Mazda CX-5?

The CX5 is rated lower both in max tongue weight and towing capacity from the factory than many of these hitches. Is it really possible to raise these numbers safely without damaging the car?

The ratings that a manufacturer puts on a hitch are the capacities that they have tested the receiver to be able to withstand.
