What Issues Could Happen If 17" Wheel Was Used With Hub and Drum Assembly AKHD-550-35-EZ-K?

Question:

Hello, I am building out a trailer for overland use. I see you list these for wheels up to 15. Can I mount a 17inch wheels with 31inch or 33inch tires? Do you recommend putting bigger tires with this set up. Thanks,

17" wheels with the 5 on 5" bolt pattern will physically fit on Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 5 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K you were looking at for your overlanding trailer, but the potential issue with using the 17" wheels is that there will not be enough contact between the mounting surface of the hub and wheel to support the larger wheel.

Not having enough contact between the mounting surfaces can cause issues if you were to hit a curb or a rock off-roading as the wheel would be prone to breaking off or causing other issues with the spindle or axle.

There are no 3500lb hub and drum assemblies rated for 17" wheels at this time, so I recommend sticking with a 15" wheel.

I included a video of the # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K for you to take a look at.
